When I was growing up, I was a dancer. One of my favorite types of dance is ballet. This is one of the main forms of exercise I did during my childhood and youth.

Ballet has many different styles and aspects, but one of the main benefits is strength training and the precision of it.

Walk with Leslie Sansone

When I was younger, one of my favorite pastimes was walking with my mom using the Leslie Sansone method. Recently, I have begun using her programs again and have noticed myself having higher energy.

Leslie Sansone developed a walking program that is simple and easy to use, and the way that she distributed her program is through video tapes and DVDs. Now, her videos can be accessed online.

Basically, a Leslie Sansone walking course is a short workout that includes walking, arm exercises, core exercises and stretching. It is not a difficult workout, but it will get your heart rate up and keep you on a fitness plan if you are short on time.

Sansone has different themes to her workout depending on what you are looking for, and you can increase difficulty by adding weights. Sometimes she features people doing this in her videos, which is helpful.

Along with the clear instructions Sansone gives, the ability to do this workout program in the comfort of my own home is what I find appealing.

Crossfit is one of the newest exercise programs sweeping the nation today. Because of this, it has gotten a lot of social media attention and gyms have been built all over the country.

I actually have a Crossfit gym across from my apartment complex. I have seen people lift weights and do short interval training as I have passed by.

According to the Crossfit website, it is a program designed to improve fitness and health through varied functional movements at high intensity. The workouts include aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running and rowing.

One of the main key advantages of Crossfit training is the community. Crossfit groups build relationships with each other because they spend time together and see each other grow and change throughout their sessions.

There are different courses to fit different skill levels, which eliminateS intimidation among Crossfit trainees.

Women’s Health


One useful resource on my fitness journey has been reading magazines and articles about exercise and nutrition.

One publication that I wanted to highlight specifically is Women’s Health Magazine. This particular magazine is popular and can be found where local books and magazines are sold.

One of my favorite things about this magazine is how it features workout routines and fitness programs that are generally new to me. For instance, I found an arm workout routine in last week’s issue that has become my new favorite routine.

Along with exercise, the magazine features articles about nutrition as well, which complements the fitness information. It is nice to have access to information that is created for a publication focused on women’s health.

There are other types of fitness magazines on the market such as Fitness Magazine and Muscle and Fitness. My tip is to find one that fits you and your lifestyle and use it to aid your health goals.


Gym Access


If you have thought about joining a gym in the past but became discouraged or overwhelmed by all of the gym options around you, you are not alone.

I have felt the same way. What gym is right for me? Do I even need to join a gym to be able to exercise? These are questions I have asked myself.

Joining or finding a gym does not have to be scary. If you are worried about the financial commitment of a gym membership, here are some other options. Most universities give students free access to on campus gyms. Take advantage of that if you are a student.

Most apartment complexes have a workout facilities on property. Use these facilities if you live in an apartment complex in which gym access is included.


If neither of these options is available to you, go to your local park or running trail to exercise. These are free options that are available in most communities.

Two important factors to consider are convenience and available hours. If you want a gym near your residence, do not pick one that is out of your way. If you want to be able to work out anytime, find a gym that is always open. Also, check reviews of gyms on social media before you join.

Nutrition and Exercise


Having a healthy lifestyle is about more than just exercise. It involves proper nutrition as well. Being active and exercising is a great start to having a healthy lifestyle, but properly fueling your body is just as important.

It makes sense because if your body is not fueled with the right hydration and nutrition, you will not be able to perform as well when you work out. I experienced this last week when I went for a run.

I did not eat a well balanced meal or drink enough water before I went running, and I could not go as far as I usually would. Halfway through the run, I felt fatigued and had to rest.


This is why nutrition is so important for a healthy lifestyle. I have learned not to exercise without properly fueling my body because the exercise will not be as effective as it should be.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a good diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight and even reduce your risk of chronic diseases.

I have always wanted to try Pure Barre because it is supposed to be great way to exercise, but I do not know much about it. I decided to do some research and share it here.

From what I’ve been told Pure Barre is a mix of ballet exercises and pilates. Since I danced for most of my life, the ballet aspect was very appealing to me. Also, people have said that Pure Barre is a wonderful leg exercise because of the use of a barre.

According to the website, “Pure Barre is a total body workout that utilizes the ballet barre to perform small, isometric movements, which burn fat, sculpt muscles and create long, lean physiques.”

Bailey Smith, my friend and Pure Barre member, said, “Pure Barre is a unique workout that gets you into shape while still being so fun. If you have never tried it, I would definitely recommend it.”

Importance of Exercise


If you are like me, exercise is not the most fun activity in the world. However, it is important for many reasons.

The first obvious reason to exercise is for health. Working out will keep you active and make you stronger. Your muscles will be challenged by the resistance of exercise and improve. Exercising can also improve weight conditions, which is good if you need to lose some extra pounds.

The biggest reason why I exercise is for my mental health. Working out helps me have high energy even when I am not in the gym. Also, it makes me feel more positive overall. When I exercise, my mood goes from being negative to positive, which is amazing.


This is not a coincidence though. It is backed up by science. According to the Help Guide, exercise releases endorphins, which positively benefit mental health overall.
